Basil Avery has spent more than four decades shaping unforgettable food experiences. His journey began in 1979 when he took over his family’s food business, laying the foundation for a lifetime in hospitality. Over the next 15 years, he managed multiple high-profile restaurants in California, building a reputation for quality, leadership, and a passion for people.


In 1995, Basil transitioned into catering, where his love for authentic, home-cooked food deepened. After 2000, he stepped into a long career in security systems, but his heart never fully left the kitchen. When he moved to Tennessee in 2022, Basil felt called to return to the industry that had shaped him. He spent two years managing at Chick-fil-A, rediscovering the joy of serving others.


The spark for Sir Basil Boneyard ignited just months ago after cooking for several church events. The overwhelming response reminded Basil of his gift and his purpose. Today, he brings that passion back to the community through slow-smoked meats, soulful sides, and genuine hospitality, creating food that restores, comforts, and brings people together.
